- The meetings referred to were focused around an exchange of views rather than specific commitments. The process bought together leaders of major economies for the first time to discuss the energy security and climate change agenda. Their expression of strong commitment to and support for achieving a global agreement on climate change in 2009 within the UN process has added valuable momentum to the ongoing debate.
